Abstract in English

The aim of the work was to present the possibilities and usefulness of the post - mortem CT examination in the evaluation of human corpses for the purposes of the forensic medicine. The examinations were performed with the use of the multidetector-row CT Somatom 16 (Siemens) unit, and involved 32 human corpses of people who died of unnatural causes (various causes, mostly injuries). CT examination made it possible to highlight the changes in the osseous system (skeletal system), parenchymatous organs (parenchymal organs, solid organs) and in the soft tissues, in every case. The CT images were useful in directing the performance of the traditional autopsy. When comparing the results of the virtual and the traditional autopsy, a high correlation of the results was affirmed.
