The essence of Spinozasstreit is a philosophical debate between Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, Friedrich Johann Heinrich Jacobi and Moses Mendelssohn. The point of controversy lies in the different points of views on such issues like the idea of God, its existence and nature, and the value of reason and faith in human cognition. Spinozasstreit is an important debate of the German Enlightenment which expresses conflict between rationalistic and irrationalistic approaches.
