The basic question of philosophy in service of man : therapeutic aspect of philosophical knowledge

The question "How to live?" follows man, a reflective creature, since the ancient times and most certainly, although the is not documented whatsoever, since forever. Among the ancient philosophers there was a predominating notion that happiness depends on ourselves, that it has conditions in our consciousness, our understanding of the world and it is not determined by outer factors - so spoke i.e. Epicurus. Modern man is often lost or blasé, he repeatedly experiences the loss of the meaning and joy of life. Philosophical psychotherapy by using a rich legacy of philosophy enables help for the ones who need reflection concerning their lives, widening of the intellectual horizons and the development of moral sensitivity. In the article I will refer to assumptions and methods of philosophical psycho-therapy, the role of mentor and patient, and most of all I will point out philosophical inspirations and contexts which can be helpful during the therapy.
