W 1986 roku Hiszpania, której integralną częścią jest Katalonia, dołączyła do Wspólnot Europejskich, a siedem lat później powstała Unia Europejska. Artykuł podejmuje problematykę aktywności Katalonii we Wspólnotach Europejskich/Unii Europejskiej w latach 1986-2021. Jego celem jest ukazanie ewolucji polityki tej wspólnoty autonomicznej w WE/UE w kontekście budowania jej pozycji politycznej. Dla przeprowadzenia badań dotyczących uczestnictwa Katalonii w WE/UE jako elementu budowania jej autonomistycznej polityki posłużą określone pytania badawcze. Problem badawczy obejmuje m.in relacje Katalonii z władzami centralnymi państwa hiszpańskiego, udział Katalonii w kształtowaniu stosunków Hiszpanii z WE UE oraz pośrednie i bezpośrednie zaangażowanie administracji katalońskiej na poziomie wspólnotowym instytucjonalnym. Aby przeprowadzić dogłębną analizę, autor odwołuje się do danych ilościowych i jakościowych oraz do literatury przedmiotu.

In 1986, Spain joined the European Communities, and seven years later the European Union was established. The paper examines the issue of Catalonia's activity in the EC/EU between 1986 and 2021. The paper aims to present the evolution of the policy of Catalonia in the EC/EU in the context of building its political position. In order to carry out the research on Catalonia’s participation in the EC/EU as an element of developing its autonomist policy, the author will use specific research questions. The research problem includes Catalonia's relations with the central authorities of the Spanish state, Catalonia's participation in the shaping of Spain's relations with the EC/EU, and the direct and indirect participation of the Catalan administration in the EC/EU. For an in-depth analysis, the author refers to quantitative and qualitative data and literature on the subject.
