The romantic tropes in Janusz Morgenstern's film "Goodbye, till tomorrow"

Tematem artykułu jest analiza filmu Do widzenia, do jutra (1960) w reżyserii Janusza Morgensterna przeprowadzona pod kątem wskazania obecnych w nim motywów i tropów romantycznych. Podczas analizy odwołuję się do dziedzictwa polskiej literatury wczesnoromantycznej, którą można określić mianem romantyzmu egzystencjalnego. Arcydziełem tej odmiany nurtu literatury romantycznej jest dzieło Adama Mickiewicza Dziady wileńsko-kowieńskie (1823). Pierwsze próby zmierzenia się z dziedzictwem romantyzmu egzystencjalnego twórcy polskiego kina podjęli na początku lat sześćdziesiątych XX wieku. Analiza filmu dokonana za pośrednictwem klucza romantycznego pozwala odczytać go inaczej, niż to czyniono dotychczas.

The subject of the article is the analysis of the film Goodbye, Till Tomorrow (1960), directed by Janusz Morgenstern carried out in terms of the indication of the motives and romantic traces present in it. During the analysis, I refer to the heritage of Polish early Romantic literature, which can be described as existential romanticism. Masterpiece of this variety of the trend of romantic literature is the work of Adam Mickiewicz Dziady wileńsko-kowieńskie (1823). The first attempts to confront the legacy of existential Romanticism were made by the founder of Polish cinema in the early 1960s. The analysis of the film made through the romantic key allows to read it differently than it has been done before.
