The article provides an introduction to Józef Świtkowski’s conception of sexual magic. Świtkowski (1876-1942), a Polish parapsychologist and occultist, but also a musician and a respected photographer, was a very active figure in the Polish esoteric milieu, especially in the interwar period. One of the topics of his works devoted to selected aspects of esoteric explorations was sexual magic. In it, an important role is played by a conception of so-called astral vortexes and related phenomena, such as succubi and incubi. Hallucinations connected to sleep paralysis are discussed by Świtkowski as real spiritual intrusions. The article presents the theoretical framework of these phenomena in the perspective of Świtkowski’s conception of sexual magic.
