In view of the increasing globalization, rapid development of new technologies and opening up certain areas of life and socio-economic relations on the Internet, there was a need to find new methods of settling disputes, including those occurring in the Internet network. Online Dispute Resolution gives parties the opportunity to resolve the conflict (eg. e-commerce dispute) via the Internet, through the use of modern platforms and technologies. As a special form of Alternative Dispute Resolution, ODR is based on traditional assumptions mediation proceedings and the use of modern tools eg. the Internet, which helps to increase the efficiency, speed and to reduce the cost of the mediation procedure. This article presents a few existing platforms, used to resolve disputes online – also describing how they work. Consideration could also be subjected to the legitimacy and effectiveness of resolving conflicts in this way and any threat to that process. All analyzes were carried out under the legislation of the EU countries, where the ODR concept is extensively popularized with good results. Development of Online Dispute Resolution is inevitable. It's high functionality and continuous evolution - associated with technological progress - makes clear that the dispute resolution will be gradually taken over by the more advanced technologies.
