The reality of imaginations, imaginative art and criteria of the work of art in the philosophy of Leon Chwistek

Celem mojego artykułu jest przedstawienie podstawy sztuki wyobrażeniowej w filozofii Leona Chwistka. Podstawą tą jest rzeczywistość wyobrażeń, której aksjomatykę podaję. Drugim celem jest zbadanie dwóch percepcyjnych i uniwersalnych kryteriów dzieła sztuki w systemie Chwistka. Jego zdaniem dzięki drugiemu kryterium odbiorca sztuki przy pomocy wyobraźni ocenia wartość dzieła. W ten sposób wykazuję, że w filozofii Chwistka wyobraźnia jest koniecznym środkiem do weryfikacji, czy percypowany obiekt jest dziełem sztuki.

The aim of my article is to present the foundation of imaginative art in Chwistek's philosophy. That foundation is the reality of imaginations of which I present the axioms. The second aim is to examine the two perceptual and universal criteria of the work of art in Chwistek's system. In his opinion, due to the second criterion a recipient of art by means of imagination can assess the value of the work of art. In this way I show that in the philosophy of Chwistek imagination is a necessary means to verify whether the perceived object is a work of art.
