On Hodonyms in the city of Rzeszów (Reichshof) in World War

Street names not only have a topographical-spatial orientation function, but also reflect history and are a political and cultural instrument. At the time of the National Socialist dictatorship street and place names were changed in Germany. Also in the cities of the Generalgouvernement, in Poland many streets and squares were renamed during the Second World War. The present article aims to present how the streets and squares in Rzeszów (Reichshof) were named in World War II. An attempt is made to determine which tendencies can be observed in urban designations.

Straßennamen haben nicht nur eine topografisch-räumliche Orientierungsfunktion, sondern spiegeln auch die Geschichte wider und sind ein politisches und kulturelles Instrument. Zur Zeit der nationalsozialistischen Diktatur wurden in Deutschland Straßen- und Platznamen geändert. Auch in den Städten des Generalgouvernements, in Polen wurden im Zweiten Weltkrieg viele Straßen und Plätze umbenannt. Der vorliegende Beitrag bezweckt, zu präsentieren, wie die Straßen und Plätze in Rzeszów (Reichshof) im Zweiten Weltkrieg genannt wurden. Dabei wird versucht, zu ermitteln, welche Tendenzen sich bei den urbanen Bezeichnungen beobachten lassen.
