Only some of potential sites of memory are signed with plaques, gravestones or memorials. The contested sites remain unmarked if we think of memorialization practices in a traditional way. The memorial function can be taken over by plants, rocks, sticks, cuts on trees, machines, garment, even garbage. The "markers" can be understood more efficiently only if non-anthropocentric approach will support the reasoning. The forensic turn provides tools and theoretical basis to understand the policy of memorialization in the locations in question.
