article
This article aims to reveal the complex intertextuality present in the poem Carnaval Carioca (1923) by Mário de Andrade, in which various motives descended from Europe (bacchanal, Dantesque, grotesque etc.) interweave, actualized in a modernist discourse embedded in the Brazilian culture through the image of the carnival. The author of the article emphasize the process of revitalisation of culturally marked matters, following a supposed temporal logic of the festivity’s experience.pl
