Tekst prezentuje interesujący pomysł Edyty Stein, mianowicie wyimaginowane spotkanie i dyskusję między Tomaszem z Akwinu - jednym z najwybitniejszych mistrzów średniowiecznej scholastyki, i Edmundem Husserlem - jednym z twórców XX-wiecznej fenomenologii. Ta dyskusja - historycznie niemożliwa i prowadzona jedynie dzięki wyobraźni Edyty Stein - koncentruje się na kwestii statusu filozofii jako poważnej, racjonalnej, rzetelnie uzasadnionej wiedzy. W odniesieniu do tego zagadnienia Akwinata i Husserl są ze sobą zgodni. Jednak to wspólne stanowisko nie wyklucza zachodzenia między nimi różnic w takich szczegółowych kwestiach jak relacja między filozoficzną wiedzą i religijną wiarą, metody odkrywania prawdy, w szczególności zaś znaczenie i funkcja intelektualnej intuicji. Pomimo tych różnic, Edyta Stein stara się, mówiąc metaforycznie, budować mosty między tymi historycznie i filozoficznie odległymi myślicielami i znajdować między nimi porozumienie. Mój tekst przedstawia przedmiotowy zakres i uzasadnienie jej intelektualnych wysiłków.

This paper presents an interesting idea of Edith Stein, i. e. an imaginary encounter and discussion between Thomas Aquinas - one of the outstanding masters of the medieval scholasticism, and Edmund Husserl - one of the founders of the 20th century's phenomenology. This discussion - historically impossible and done only by the Edith Stein's imagination - focuses on the status of philosophy as the serious, rational and well grounded knowledge. On that topic, Aquinas and Husserl agree . But this common position not exclude the differences between them in the particulars questions, such as the relation between philosophical knowledge and religious faith, the methods of discovering the truth, especially the meaning and function of intellectual intuition. Despite these differences, Edith Stein tries, metaphorically speaking, to construct the bridge between these historically and philosophically distant thinkers and to find their mutual comprehension. My paper presents the subject matter and justification of her intellectual efforts.
