Artykuł odnosi się do istoty kultury uniwersytetu,która jest ważna dla samookreślenia się pedagogiki szkoły wyższej i dla socjologii szkoły wyższej. Autor, używając istotnościowej ("esencjalnej") metodologii, analizuje łacińską etymologię terminów: "kultura", "uniwersytet" i zakresowo - znaczenia terminów: "kultura uniwersytetu". Próbuje wyznaczyć istotę kultury uniwersyteckiej, której esencję można określić pytaniami: "co to jest?" i "czym to jest?" w odniesieniu do kultury uniwersytetu, w kontekście pierwotnych łacińskich i greckich korzeni słów (terminów)

The article refers to the essence of the culture of the university, that is important for the self-determination the pedagogy of the high school and for the sociology of the high school. The author, using the essential ("essentialitial") methodology, gnaws the Latin etymology of the terms: "the culture", "the university", and consistently - the meaning the term: "the culture of the university". He tries to determinate the essence of the university culture, that is to say: "what is it?" and "what with is it?" the university culture, in the context of the primary Latin and Greek roots of the words.
