"Telegraph" in the titles of magazines and names of press agencies (1821-1991) : sketch on the centenary of the establishment of the Polish Telegraph Agency

W opracowaniu przedstawiono wykorzystanie nazwy "telegraf" w tytułach polskich czasopism oraz nazwach agencji prasowych w okresie od 1821 do 1991 roku. Na ziemiach polskich pojawienie się przełomowego urządzenia technicznego zwanego telegrafem poprzedził "Telegraf. Wiadomości z poczty dzisiejszej" - czasopismo wydawane w Krakowie w 1821 roku przez Konstantego Majeranowskiego. Najważniejszą i zarazem ostatnią polską instytucją nawiązującą w nazwie do telegrafu była Polska Agencja Telegraficzna założona sto lat temu, w dniu 5 listopada 1918 roku.

The study presents the reception of the term "telegraph" in the titles of Polish periodicals and the names of press agencies in the period from 1821 to 1991. In Poland, the emergence of a breakthrough technical device called a telegraph was preceded by "Telegraph. Messages from today's mail" - a magazine published in Krakow in 1821 by Konstanty Majeranowski. The most important and the last Polish institution referring in the name to the telegraph was the Polish Telegraphic Agency, established one hundred years ago, on November 5, 1918.
