Physico-geographical study of chosen gorges in Polish part of the Tatra Mountain foothills

Niniejsza praca pod tytułem „Studium fizycznogeograficzne wybranych przełomów na Podtatrzu Polskim” obejmuje tematykę przełomów rzecznych w obszarze Podtatrza Polskiego. Jej głównym celem jest porównanie wybranych przełomów pod względem fizycznogeograficznym oraz ocena ich zagospodarowania turystycznego. W pracy podjęto próbę ustalenia podobieństw i różnic wynikających z położenia przełomów, wielkości cieków które je budują czy zainteresowania turystycznego. Do celów badawczych wykorzystane zostały mapy geologiczne, literatura tematyczna, informacje znalezione na specjalistycznych stronach internetowych www. Wykonane zostały mapy wyjściowe do badań terenowych, które posłużyły do identyfikacji oraz kwalifikacji wybranych przełomów do dalszej analizy. Profile podłużne stworzone za pomocą programów ArcGis Pro oraz Quantum Gis pozwoliły na zbadanie charakterystyki cieków w odcinkach przełomowych. Wykonanie zdjęć fotograficznych pozwoliło na ukazanie cech typowych dla przełomów rzecznych w tym regionie. W oparciu o wyniki badań ustalono, iż wybrane przełomy są podobne pod względem geologicznym, gdyż leżą w granicach Pienińskiego Pasa Skałkowego. Z kolei różnice wynikają głównie z wielkości przełomów, co wpływa na ruch turystycznych, a tym samym na zagospodarowanie turystyczne. Położenie w granicach obszarów chronionych przyczynia się do zwiększenia zainteresowania przełomem sprzyja rozwojowi regionu, ale także powoduje sezonowy i miejscowy przesyt turystyczny, który może w negatywny sposób wpływać na przyrodę ożywioną i nieożywioną wybranych przełomów.

The following work "Physico-geographical study of chosen gorges in Polish part of the Tatra Mountain foothills" deals with topics related to river gorges in the area of Polish part of the Tatra Mountain foothills. Its main goal is to compare chosen gorges in terms of physical geography and to assess their tourist development. The work is an attempt to determine similarities and differences resulting from the location of the gorges, the size of the watercourses that build them and tourist interest. For research purposes, geological maps, thematic literature and information found on specialized websites were used. Initial maps were prepared for field research and used to identify and qualify particular gorges for further analysis. Longitudinal profiles created in ArcGIS Pro and Quantum Gis software enabled the examination of the characteristics of watercourses in gorges sections. The photographs taken for the study purposes revealed features typical for river gorges in this region. Based on the research results, it was established that chosen gorges are similar in geological terms, as they lie within the Pieniny Rock Belt. The differences result mainly from the size of the gorges, which affects tourist traffic and, therefore, tourist development. The location in protected areas causes greater tourist attractiveness, which affects the possibility of development, but also causes a seasonal and local tourist glut, which may negatively affect the animate and inanimate nature of particular gorges.
