Murderess or Victim? Cultural representations of Rita Gorgon's image.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest zaprezentowanie sposobu kreowania wizerunku Rity Gorgon w kulturze. W szczególności analizie poddane zostały reportaże dotyczące zbrodni brzuchowickiej. Autorka odwołuje się także do tekstów publicystycznych Ireny Krzywickiej oraz Stanisławy Przybyszewskiej. Zawarte w pracy interpretacje dotyczą także sposobu przedstawienia Rity Gorgon w utworach poetyckich, spektaklach teatralnych oraz filmie pt. „Sprawa Gorgonowej”.Opierając się na przykładzie Rity Gorgon praca ma na celu ukazanie, w jaki sposób domniemane morderczynie, są przedstawiane w literaturze i kulturze. Podkreślona została niejednorodność ujęcia postawy Gorgonowej, wielość możliwych interpretacji jej sylwetki. Autorka zwraca także uwagę na kontekst społeczno-kulturowy procesu Rity Gorgon oraz ówczesne nastroje społeczne, które mogą zostać określone jako „gorgomania”. Losy Rity Gorgon zostały przedstawione z perspektywy herstorycznej.Podjęte analizy prowadzą do wniosku, że postać Rity obdarzona jest potencjałem kulturotwórczym. Na gruncie literatury i sztuki wizerunek kobiety-morderczyni został przetworzony na wiele różnych sposobów, powodując niejednorodny odbiór postaci „pięknej Dalmatynki”.

The aim of this paper is to present the way in which the image of Rita Gorgon is created in culture. In particular, reportages about the Brzuchowice crime have been analysed. The author also refers to journalistic texts by Irena Krzywicka and Stanisława Przybyszewska. The interpretations included in the work concern also the way Rita Gorgon is presented in poetic works, theatre plays and the film "The Gorgon Case". "The Gorgon Case".Based on the example of Rita Gorgon, the work aims to show how the alleged murderesses are presented in literature and culture. The heterogeneity of the portrayal of the Gorgon's attitude and the multiplicity of possible interpretations of her figure are highlighted. The author also pays attention to the socio-cultural context of Rita Gorgon's trial and the social mood of the time, which can be described as "gorgomania". The fate of Rita Gorgon is presented from a herstorical perspective.The analyses undertaken lead to the conclusion that the figure of Rita is endowed with a culture-creating potential. In literature and art, the image of the woman-murderer has been transformed in many different ways, resulting in a heterogeneous reception of the figure of the "beautiful Dalmatian".
