The master's thesis undertakes an analysis of the essay „The laugh of the Medusa" by Hélène Cixous, in order to see the characteristics and essence of women's writing. The theoretical part focuses on the history of feminism. Starting from antiquity, we try to find an answer to the question of why women are perceived as the weaker, passive, inferior sex in society. Then the path of women to obtain their rights, equality is shown, presenting the suffragettes, emancipationists, among others. The three waves of feminism are presented, with their key ideas and events. The practical part focuses on a thorough analysis of the essay „The laugh of the Medusa". Through the analysis, it is possible to see the characteristics of women's writing, a concept proposed by Hélène Cixous in order for women to regain control over their bodies, to liberate themselves from the power of patriarchy. Through the analysis, it is possible to see why women's writing is so important in the feminist movement, what effects it has on both the individual and women in general.

Ce mémoire analyse l'essai « Le rire de la Méduse » d'Hélène Cixous, afin de discerner les caractéristiques et l'essence de l'écriture féminine. La partie théorique se concentre sur l'histoire du féminisme. En partant de l'Antiquité, nous essayons de trouver une réponse à la question de savoir pourquoi les femmes sont considérées comme le sexe faible, passif et inférieur dans la société. Ensuite, le parcours des femmes pour obtenir leurs droits, leur égalité, est montré, en présentant les suffragettes, parmi d'autres. Les trois vagues du féminisme sont présentées, avec leurs idées et événements clés. La partie pratique se concentre sur une analyse approfondie de l'essai « Le rire de la Méduse ». L'analyse permet de voir les caractéristiques de l'écriture féminine, un concept proposé par Hélène Cixous pour que les femmes reprennent le contrôle de leur corps et se libèrent du pouvoir du patriarcat. L'analyse permet de comprendre pourquoi l'écriture féminine est si importante dans le mouvement féministe, quels sont ses effets sur l'individu et sur les femmes en général.
