Animal mourning - how culture presents animals dealing with death

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie i interpretacja tego, w jaki sposób kultura pokazuje przeżywanie żałoby przez zwierzęta. Przywołane przykłady zostały zinterpretowane w oparciu o założenia zoonarracji, a także ludzkiej tradycji kulturowego i emocjonalnego przeżywania żałoby.Całość składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Pierwszy podejmuje temat podziału między ludźmi, a pozostałymi zwierzętami oraz jak wpływa on na prowadzenie narracji z perspektywy zwierząt. Drugi z nich skupia się na tym, czym jest żałoba oraz jakie obrzędy i zwyczaje towarzyszą jej przeżywaniu. Trzeci rozdział to przedstawienie oraz interpretacja wybranych filmów, artykułów, obrazów oraz tekstów literackich, które prezentują zwierzęta w żałobie.

The aim of this work is to present and interpret how culture shows animal mourning. The cited examples were interpreted based on the assumptions of animal narrative, as well as the human tradition of cultural and emotional mourning.The totality of this work consist of three chapters. The first takes up the topic of the division between humans and other animals and how it affects the narration from the animals' perspective. The second of them focuses on what mourning is and what rituals and mores accompany its experience. The third chapter is the presentation and interpretation of selected films, articles, paintings and literature that present animals in mourning.
