The influence of nativism on the political life of the United States - case studies

Praca ta zajmuje się natywizmem w Stanach Zjednoczonych i tego jak wpływa on na scene polityczną kraju. Praca bada w jaki sposób natywizm formuje scene polityczną oraz poszczególne partie. Pod uwagę wzięto kolejne fale natywizmu oraz to jak zmieniały one zarówno Izbę Reprezentantów, Kongres jak i urząd prezydenta. Skupiono się również na tym jaki wpływ natywizm wywarł na wybrane legislacje, głównie te dotyczące systemu imigracyjnego. Dobór analizowanych przypadków podyktowany został chęcią ukazania natywizmu zarówno w okresie jego politycznej dominacji jak i wycofania.

The paper addresses nativism in the United States and its influence on the political landscape of said country. It analyses how nativism shapes the political scene and individual parties. The successive waves of nativism and how they changed the House of Representatives, Congress and the office of president were taken into account. It also focuses on the impact of nativism on selected legislations, mainly those concerning the immigration system. The selection of the analyzed cases was dictated by the desire to show nativism both in the period of its political domination and withdrawal.
