Praca poświęcona jest Nowogrodowi Wielkiemu. Od samego początku istnienia miasto pełniło ważną rolę na Rusi. Nowogród Wielki wyróżniał się na tle ziem ruskich pod względem gospodarczym, politycznym, a przede wszystkim ustrojowym. W pierwszym rozdziale została ukazana historia Rusi Kijowskiej, jej rozpad oraz dążenie Księstwa Moskiewskiego do uzyskania kontroli nad cała Rusią. Z kolei w drugim rozdziale omówiono historię Republiki Nowogrodzkiej ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem jej dziejów politycznych. W rozdziale trzecim skupiono się na ustroju i podziale administracyjnym miasta, a także nad religijnymi podstawami ideologii państwowej. W ostatnim rozdziale ukazano takie wątki jak rzemiosło, handel, architektura oraz literatura

The work is dedicated to Novgorod the Great. From the very beginning, the city played an important role in Ruthenia. Novgirod The Great stood out from the Ruthenian lands in terms of economy, politics and, above all, the system. The first chapter presents the history of Kievan Rus, its disintegration and the tendency of the Principality of Moscow to gain control over all of Russia. In turn, the second chapter discusses the history of the Novgorod Republic with particular emphasis on its political history. The third chapter focuses on the system and administrative division of the city, as well as on the religious foundations of the state ideology. The last chapter presents such topics as crafts, trade, architecture and literature.
