The princely House of Lichtenstein has its roots to the south of Vienna. Considering its history, together with its political and economic activity, one is compelled to concur with the idea that it is rooted in Central Europe and is closely associated with it. Today, Prince von Liechtenstein is the ruler of the Principality located on the upper Rhine, but the princely house did not find its permanent home there until 1938. Over the course of many centuries, the family has accumulated considerable wealth, especially on the current Czech-Austrian border. Those that were located on the Czech side were lost after 1918 and 1945 in the aftermath of the world wars. Today, they are not the property of the family, but remain part of its heritage - testifying to the complex history and politics of this region. Currently, they are used for tourism and enjoy a high profile, which undoubtedly contributes to their closer association with the princely family.
