Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wpływu socrealizmu na pisarstwo Mieczysława Porębskiego. Przytaczając odpowiednie cytaty, zaprezentowano w nim obecność zarówno stylu socrealistycznego w jego pismach z lat pięćdziesiątych, jak również trwanie wykształconych wówczas w późniejszych pracach historyczno- i teoretycznoartystycznych przekonań badacza. W toku narracji uwzględniono dotychczasowy stan badań, składający się z krótkich publikacji, omawiających głównie teksty Porębskiego publikowane w latach 1946-1956. Przywołano również wypowiedzi samego krytyka, sformułowane po czasie, odnoszące się do realiów funkcjonowania w ustroju socjalistycznym i wskazujące niemożność przeprowadzenia obecnie jednoznacznej oceny ówczesnych postaw artystów i krytyków. W artykule zwrócono uwagę na dzisiejszą potrzebę czytania tekstów Porębskiego na nowo, są one bowiem nadal cenne badawczo mimo swojej socrealistycznej formy.

The aim of the article is to present the influence of socialist realism on the writing of Mieczysław Porębski. The presence of both the socialist realist style in his writings from the 1950s, as well as the persistence of the then developed convictions in the researcher's later historical and theoretical-artistic works are presented here, with appropriate quotations. The current state of research, consisting of short publications that discuss mainly Porębski's texts published between 1946-1956, is taken into account here. The statements of the critic about his attitude then, formulated long after that period, referring to the realities of functioning in the socialist system and indicating the impossibility of carrying out an unambiguous assessment of the attitudes of artists and critics at the time, are also presented here. The article highlights the need to reread Porębski's texts which are still valuable for researchers despite their socialist realist form.
