The motif of the child in the face of violence on the basis of selected protest songs

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest motyw dziecka w obliczu przemocy na podstawie wybranych protest songów. Przedmiotem analizy i interpretacji stały się kompozycje z lat 80. XX wieku stworzone przez artystów z krajów anglosaskich. W pierwszych rozdziałach odwołano się do teorii związanej z funkcjami muzyki. Zdefiniowano protest song oraz przedstawiono historię tego rodzaju muzyki, skupiając się na XX wieku. Ukazano również zjawisko przemocy wobec dzieci, zarówno poprzez przywołanie teorii psychologicznej, jak i opis dziejów stosowania nadużyć, a także przykłady z kultury popularnej, które poruszają ten problem. Ostatnia część pracy dotyczy protest songów, w których przemoc wobec dziecka pojawia się w kontekście życia codziennego, wojny oraz działań terrorystycznych. W tym fragmencie dokonano analizy i interpretacji konkretnych utworów, a następnie porównano je ze sobą, a także zestawiono pojawiający się w nich motyw z teorią dotyczącą nadużyć.

The theme of this paper is the motif of the child in the face of violence on the basis of selected protest songs. The subject of analysis and interpretation became the compositions of the 1980s created by artists from Anglo-Saxon countries. The first chapters refer to the theory related to the functions of music. A protest song was defined and the history of this type of music was presented, focusing on the 20th century. The phenomenon of violence against children was also shown, both by citing psychological theory and describing the history of the use of abuse. Examples from popular culture that address this problem are also given. The last part of the work deals with protest songs in which violence against a child appears in the context of everyday life, war and terrorist activities. This section analyzes and interprets specific songs, and then compares them with each other, as well as juxtaposes the theme that appears in them with the theory of abuse.
