Lei Feng as a model hero based on the analysis of "Lei Feng's Diary"

Lei Feng jest istotną postacią w kulturze chińskiej. Żołnierz, który zmarł w 1962 roku jest symbolem altruizmu, oddania Komunistycznej Partii Chin oraz wzorem do naśladowania dla społeczeństwa. Odnalezienie jego dziennika jest powiązane z pojawieniem się nowego typu postaci literackiej jakim był modelowy bohater. Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie Lei Fenga jako modelowego obywatela i bohatera. W pierwszym rozdziale zdefiniowano pojęcia bohatera w oparciu o nauki społeczne oraz wytypowano cechy modelowego obywatela w państwach socjalistycznych. Następnie opisano literaturę chińską lat 60. XX wieku oraz kontrowersje związane z autentycznością „Dziennika Lei Fenga”, w jaki sposób był on rozpowszechniany i wykorzystany w trakcie kampanii „Uczcie się od Lei Fenga”. W trzecim rozdziale została przeprowadzona analiza „Dziennika Lei Fenga”. W zakończeniu pracy przestawiono wnioski płynące z podjętej analizy.

Lei Feng is a significant figure in Chinese culture. The soldier, who died in 1962, became a symbol of altruism, devotion to the Chinese Communist Party, and a role model for society. The discovery of his diary correlates with the emergence of a new type of literary character - the model hero. The purpose of this paper is to depict Lei Feng as a model citizen and hero. The first chapter defines the concepts of a hero based on social science and identifies the characteristics of a model worker in socialist countries. The next section of the paper describes Chinese literature of the 1960s and the controversy over the authenticity of "Lei Feng's Diary" and how it was distributed and used during the "Learn from Lei Feng" campaign. In the third chapter, an analysis of "Lei Feng's Diary" was conducted. The conclusion of the thesis presents the analysis's results.
