Argentina as a safe haven for German Nazis after World War II

Wraz z upadkiem III Rzeszy i zakończeniem II wojny światowej niemieccy naziści uciekali do krajów, które były w stanie zapewnić im dogodne schronienie przed aliantami. Jednym z tych państw była Argentyna, która jest przedmiotem analizy poniższej pracy. Poprzez uwarunkowania historyczne pokazane zostaną migracje Niemców do Argentyny dzięki którym, z biegiem lat, na terenie kraju utworzyła się liczna społeczność niemiecka, w której obecni byli sympatycy ideologii nazistowskiej. Natomiast poprzez uwarunkowania polityczne omówione zostaną: neutralność kraju w czasie II wojny światowej w kontekście relacji ze Stanami Zjednoczonymi oraz rządy Juana Domingo Peróna i jego powiązania z faszyzmem i niemieckimi nazistami. W niniejszej pracy przedstawione zostaną konkretne drogi ucieczki nazistów wraz z instytucjami, które przyczyniły się do pomocy i ułatwienia im opuszczenia Europy do wybranego kraju latynoamerykańskiego. Przybliżone zostaną również poszczególne sylwetki niemieckich zbrodniarzy wojennych, którym udało się uciec do Argentyny.

With the fall of the Third Reich and the end of the World War II, German Nazis fled to countries that were able to provide them with a convenient safe haven from the Allies. One of these countries was Argentina, which is analyzed in the following work. Through historical conditions, the migration of Germans to Argentina will be shown, thanks to which, over the years, a large German community was formed in the country, in which sympathizers of Nazi ideology were present. On the other hand, the country’s neutrality during the World War II in the context of its relations with the United States and the rule of Juan Domingo Perón and his links with fascism and the German Nazis will be discussed through the political context. This thesis will present the specific escape routes of the Nazis, together with the institutions that helped and facilitated their departure from Europe to a selected Latin American country. Individual profiles of German war criminals who managed to escape to Argentina will be also introduced.
