Robert Bellarmine's List of Heretics - introduction and translation

Niniejsza praca to tłumaczenie i opracowanie „Index haereticorum” autorstwa Roberta Bellarmina. Przekład został poprzedzony wstępem autora, który dotyczy biografii Bellarmina i wstępnej charakterystyki „Wykazu heretyków”. Niniejszy przekład został oparty o transkrypcję rękopiśmienniczego oryginału dokonaną przez José Luisa Narvaja SJ. „Wykaz heretyków” należy do lowańskiej twórczości Bellarmina, która poprzedza bezpośrednio jego rzymską twórczość uwieńczoną sławetnymi „Kontrowersjami”. Wpisuje się także w tradycję teologii kontrowersyjnej i stanowi niezwykle wnikliwe studium historyczno-krytyczne na temat chrześcijańskiej heterodoksji. Niniejsze, pierwsze tłumaczenie na język polski „Index haereticorum” stara się oddać dalece użytkową strukturę tekstu i niezwykle polemiczny styl wywodu Bellarmina. „Wykaz heretyków” można uznać za dzieło niezwykle mocno uwikłane w reformacyjne spory XVI wieku. Bellarmin opisał w nim 217 heretyków, którzy działali na przestrzeni tysiąca pięciuset lat.

This work is a translation and development of "Index haereticorum" by Robert Bellarmine. The translation was preceded by the author's introduction, which concerns the biography of Bellarmine and the initial characterization of the "List of heretics". This translation is based on the transcription of the manuscript original by José Luis Narvaj SJ. The "List of heretics" belongs to Bellarmine's Louvan works, which directly precedes his Roman works, culminating in the famous "Controversies". It is also part of the tradition of controversial theology and is an extremely thorough historical and critical study of Christian heterodoxy. This, first Polish translation of "Index haereticorum" tries to reflect the utilitarian structure of the text and the extremely polemical style of Bellarmine's argument. "The list of heretics" can be considered as a work extremely entangled in the disputes of the reformation of the sixteenth century. Bellarmine described 217 heretics who had been active for fifteen hundred years.
