Shamanism and the role of women on the Korean Peninsula and Jeju Island - showing the matriarchal spirit of the island through the analysis of native religions

Poniższa praca skupia się na zagadnieniu szamanizmu na Półwyspie Koreańskim oraz wyspie Czedżu, porównując oba wierzenia ze sobą i analizując je pod kątem wizerunku kobiet. Na początku skupiłam się na przybliżeniu tematu wierzeń rodzimych w Korei Południowej, zaczynając od rysu historycznego i procesu zostania szamanem, a następnie przechodząc do omówienia najważniejszych bóstw obu religii oraz mitów z nimi związanych. W ostatniej części została porównana rola kobiet na Półwyspie Koreańskim oraz wyspie Czedżu, poczynając od najstarszych opowieści z obu obszarów i odwołując się do historycznej roli kobiet. Głównym celem poniższej pracy jest zwrócenie uwagi na matriarchalnego ducha wyspy, oddanego zarówno w wieloletniej historii, jak i religii rodzimej, i zwrócenie uwagi na różnice w postrzeganiu kobiet między wyspą Czedżu a Półwyspem Koreańskim.

The following work focuses on the issue of shamanism on the Korean Peninsula and Jeju Island, comparing both beliefs and analyzing them in terms of the image of women. At the beginning, I focused on the subject of native beliefs in South Korea, starting with the historical background and the process of becoming a shaman, and then I moved on to discuss the most important deities in both religions and the myths associated with them. In the last part, the role of women on the Korean Peninsula and Jeju Island was compared, starting with the oldest stories from both areas and referring to the historical role of women. The main purpose of the following work is to draw attention to the matriarchal spirit of the island, reflected both in its long history and native religion, and to accentuate the differences in the perception of women between Jeju Island and the Korean Peninsula.
