The role of cashless payments in Poland

Z roku na rok coraz większa liczba transakcji w Polsce jest realizowana bez użycia gotówki, za pomocą kart płatniczych, telefonów komórkowych oraz innych metod płatności elektronicznych. Celem tej pracy jest określenie roli, jaką płatności bezgotówkowe odgrywają w Polsce oraz perspektyw rozwoju społeczeństwa polskiego w kierunku społeczeństwa bezgotówkowego. Szczególna uwaga została poświęcona historii rozwoju płatności bezgotówkowych w Polsce, z uwzględnieniem wpływu pandemii koronawirusa na ten proces, zwyczajom płatniczym społeczeństwa oraz jego postawom wobec rozwoju obrotu bezgotówkowego. Ponadto, dokonano analizy korzyści i zagrożeń wynikającychz upowszechnienia się płatności bezgotówkowych.

Every year, an increasing number of transactions in Poland are being carried out without the use of cash, through payment cards, mobile phones, and other electronic payment methods. The aim of this thesis is to determine the role that cashless payments play in Poland and the prospects for the development of Polish society towards a cashless society. Special attention has been paid to the history of the development of cashless payments in Poland, taking into account the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on this process, the payment habits of society, and their attitudes towards the development of cashless transactions. Additionally, an analysis of the benefits and risks arising from the widespread adoption of cashless payments has been conducted.
