Information safety in the light of information ecology is the subject matter of this paper. Information ecology is a new interdisciplinary field or research domain concerning mutual interactions between man and information, information relationships between people in public and private information spaces, and the influence exerted on those spaces by the information environment. The structure and operation of the human information environment is the object of this field. Information safety is one of the features of information and it gains importance primarily from the social viewpoint. It requires special protection in the situation of many hazards to information. In this paper, the author points out especially the infoecological aspects of information safety in the library and the need for special protection measures. An infoecological analysis of information safety in the library is a novelty in the debate on information safety.
