This thesis explores the portrayal of religion in Flannery O’Connor’s Wise Blood. The chapter discusses the presence of both Protestant and Catholic values in the novel. The second chapter features an analysis of Haze Motes and his anti-religious Church without Christ. It also describes the significance of characters that are drawn to Haze’s burgeoning religion through the concept of a new jesus, and how the Church without Christ changes because of the influence of these characters.
