Niniejsza praca zajmuje się tematyką ceremonii otwarcia Igrzysk Olimpijskich w Londynie w 2012 roku, które wraz ze swoim przygotowaniem teatralnym są największym dotychczasowym przedstawieniem kulturowym obecnego stulecia. Praca opiera się na definicji przedstawienia kulturowego oraz historii nowożytnych igrzysk olimpijskich oraz ceremonii. This thesis deals with the subject of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London in 2012, which, together with its theatrical preparation, is the greatest cultural performance of this century to date. The thesis is based on the definition of cultural performance and the history of the modern Olympic Games and ceremonies. To show this, a different sports cultural performance is used for comparison. The thesis also presents the technological aspect and its impact on the history of the Olympic Games. The ceremony in London is subjected to a detailed analysis - from the first to the last minute. Considerable attention is given to the artistic context, which is largely responsible for the size of the performance. Theater and performance literature, international articles and video recordings were used to reach these conclusions.
