Marital (un)happiness in Leo Tolstoy's Anna Karenina

Niniejsza Praca nosi tytuł: Małżeńskie (nie)szczęście w Annie Kareninie Lwa Tołstoja. Jej celem jest analiza przyczyn zaistnienia nieszczęścia w małżeństwie Kareninów i szczęścia w małżeństwie Lewinów. W Rozdziale pierwszym zostaną przedstawione poglądy pisarza dotyczące szczęścia, małżeństwa oraz szczęścia rodzinnego na podstawie wybranych utworów Tołstoja. Celem Rozdziału jest wyłonienie czynników warunkujących zaistnienie szczęścia w małżeństwie oraz przedstawienie tołstojowskiego ideału małżeństwa. W Rozdziale drugim zostanie opisana oraz przeanalizowana relacja Katarzyny i Konstantego Lewinów, która, zdaniem autorki, uosabia ideał tołstojowskiego małżeństwa. Celem Rozdziału jest wyłonienie warunków zaistnienia szczęścia małżeńskiego na podstawie analizy obrazu małżeństwa Kitty i Lewina. Rozdział trzeci zawiera analizę nieszczęśliwego małżeństwa powieściowych Kareninów. Celem Rozdziału jest wskazanie czynników, które wpłynęły na zaistnienie nieszczęścia w ich relacji i doprowadziły do tragicznego końca życia kobiety.

This work is titled: Marital (un)happiness in Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. Its purpose is to analyze the causes of unhappiness in the marriage of Anna and Alexei Karenin and the causes of happiness in the marriage of Ekaterina and Konstantin Levin. In Chapter One, the writer's views on happiness, marriage, and family happiness will be presented on the basis of his selected works. The aim of the Chapter is to identify the factors conditioning the existence of happiness in marriage and to present Tolstoy's ideal of marriage. In the Chapter Two, the relationship between Ekaterina and Konstantin Levin will be described and analyzed, which, according to the author, embodies the ideal of a Tolstoyan marriage. The aim of the Chapter is to select the conditions for the emergence of marital happiness based on the analysis of the image of Kitty and Levin's marriage. Chapter Three contains an analysis of the unhappy marriage of Anna and Alexei Karenin. The aim of the Chapter is to indicate the factors that influenced the unhappiness in their relationship and led to the tragic end of a woman's life.
