Stress coping strategies, resiliency and self-esteem of Adult Children of Alcoholics and the psychological roles they played in the family of origin.

Celem niniejszej pracy było zbadanie czy istnieje związek pomiędzy poszczególnymi rolami psychologicznymi (Bohater, Maskotka, Zagubione Dziecko, Kozioł Ofiarny, Żelazne Dziecko) pełnionymi przez dzieci w rodzinach alkoholowych a strategiami radzenia sobie ze stresem, prężnością psychiczną oraz samooceną. Analizie poddano wyniki 83 osób, w tym 75 kobiet oraz 7 mężczyzn, w wieku 18 - 35 lat (M=27,41, SD=5,040). W badaniach zastosowano arkusz danych socjodemograficznych własnego autorstwa oraz 4 kwestionariusze: Kwestionariusz Ról Rodzinnych (KRR) autorstwa Margasińskiego, Inwentarz do Pomiaru Radzenia Sobie ze Stresem - Mini-COPE w polskiej adaptacji Juczyńskiego i Ogińskiej-Bulik, Skala Pomiaru Prężności (SPP-25) autorstwa Ogińskiej-Bulik i Juczyńskiego oraz Skala Samooceny Rosenberga (SES) w polskiej adaptacji Dzwonkowskiej, Lachowicz-Tabaczek i Łaguny. Na podstawie zebranych danych udało się ustalić liczne związki pomiędzy badanymi zmiennymi. Wykazano pozytywny związek poziomu samooceny z rolą Żelaznego Dziecka, natomiast negatywny związek z rolami Kozła Ofiarnego i Zagubionego Dziecka. Nie wykryto istotnych związków pomiędzy poziomem samooceny a rolami Bohatera i Maskotki. Wykazano również pozytywny związek prężności psychicznej z rolą Żelaznego Dziecka oraz negatywny związek z rolą Zagubionego dziecka. Nie wykryto natomiast związków pomiędzy prężnością psychiczną a rolami Kozła ofiarnego, Bohatera oraz Maskotki. Ustalono również istotne związki pomiędzy poszczególnymi rolami psychologicznymi a strategiami radzenia sobie ze stresem.

The aim of this study was to examine whether there is a correlation between the various psychological roles (Hero, Mascot, Lost Child, Scapegoat, Iron Child) played by children in alcoholic families and stress coping strategies, resiliency and self-esteem. The results of 83 people were analysed, including 75 women and 7 men, aged 18-35 (M=27,41, SD=5,040). The study used the sociodemographic survey of own authorship and 4 questionnaires: Family Roles Questionnaire (KRR) by Margasiński, Mini-COPE Inventory in the polish adaptation of Juczyński and Ogińska-Bulik, The Resiliency Assessment Scale (SPP-25) by Ogińska-Bulik and Juczyński and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (SES) in the polish adaptation of Dzwonkowska, Lachowicz-Tabaczek and Łaguna. Based on the collected data, it was possible to establish numerous correlations between the studied variables. A positive correlation was found between the level of self-esteem and the role of the Iron Child, while a negative correlation with the roles of the Scapegoat and the Lost Child. No significant correlations were found between the level of self-esteem and the roles of the Hero and the Mascot. There was also a positive correlation between resiliency and the role of the Iron Child and a negative one with the role of the Lost Child. However, no associations were found between resiliency and the roles of the Scapegoat, the Hero and the Mascot. Significant correlations were also established between individual psychological roles and stress coping strategies.
