Images of women presented on the covers of the magazine "Twój Styl" in the years 1993-2020 in perspective of cultural changes - comparative analysis

Niniejsza praca dyplomowa przedstawia wizerunki kobiet w latach 1993-2020, umieszczone na okładkach czasopisma "Twój Styl". W pierwszym rozdziale przytoczono termin kultury, pokazano jak termin ten ewoluował. W rozdziale drugim opisano wizerunek i stereotyp, a także pokazano rolę czasopisma we współczesnym świecie, oraz wpływ mediów na kształtowanie wizerunku. Rozdział trzeci przybliża czytelnikowi rolę kobiet obecnych lat, od tradycyjnej po kobietę sukcesu. Zdiagnozowano funkcje okładek współczesnych magazynów drukowanych.W kolejnych rozdziałach analizą porównawczą, objęto 12 numerów czasopisma "Twój Styl". Wydzielono kategorie analityczne oraz oddzielne zespoły kategorii dla obrazu i tekstu, aby lepiej przyjrzeć się badanym okładkom. W niniejszej pracy odpowiedziano na postawione pytanie badawcze "Jak zmieniał się wizerunek kobiet z okładek Twojego Stylu pomiędzy rokiem 1993 a 2020?". Okazuje się, że wizerunek ten ulegał licznym zmianom, co wynikało z rosnącego feminizmu, aktualnej polityki czy wreszcie samoakceptacji. Postacie na okładach z lat dziewięćdziesiątych ubierane były skromnie, ale nowocześnie. Są to kobiety młode, bardzo atrakcyjne. Po roku dwutysięcznym promuje się inne wartości, takie jak naturalność, wyrażanie własnego zdania czy sukcesy na polu zawodowym. Autor stwierdza, że cel jaki został postawiony w pracy, został zrealizowany, a wizerunek kobiet na najnowszych okładkach podlegających analizie, nie jest stereotypowy.

This thesis presents the images of women in the years 1993-2020, placed on the covers of the "Twój Styl" magazine. The first chapter mentions the term of culture, showing how this term has evolved. The second chapter describes the image and stereotype, also the role of the magazine in the modern world has been showed. Author shows the influence of the media on shaping the image. The third chapter introduces the reader to the role of women of the present years, from the traditional to the successful woman.The functions of the covers of modern printed magazines were diagnosed.Next chapters contain a comparative analysis of 12 "Twój Styl" magazine covers. Analytical categories and separate groups of categories for image and text were separated in order to get a better look at the tested covers.This paper answers the main thesis question "How the image of women from the covers of Twój Styl change has been changed between 1993 and 2020?" It turns out that this image has changed many times, which resulted from growing feminism, current politics and, finally, self-acceptance. The figures on the covers from the nineties were dressed modestly, but in a modern way. They are young, very attractive women. After the year 2000, other values are promoted, such as naturalness, self-expression or success in the professional field.The author states, that the goal set in the work has been achieved, and the image of women on the latest covers subject to analysis is not stereotypical.
