Controversial statements of politicians in crisis situations and their public perception on the example of comments and reactions of Internet users to statements of politicians concerning the coronavirus epidemic

Celem pracy jest ukazanie wypowiedzi polityków, które można nazwać kontrowersyjnymi i wskazanie jak reagowali na nie internauci na wybranych stronach internetowych. Przy doborze stron internetowych zachowana jest równowaga w kwestii linii redakcyjnej obydwóch portali, które posłużyły do analizy danej wypowiedzi. Praca składa się z trzech rozdziałów. Dwa pierwsze stanowią podłoże teoretyczne do analizy oraz definiują podstawowe pojęcia związane z tematyką pracy. Trzeci rozdział poświęcony jest analizie 6 wybranych kontrowersyjnych wypowiedzi polityków z różnych opcji politycznych. Niniejsza praca licencjacka ukazuje analizę sposobu komunikacji polityków z ludźmi w trudnej, kryzysowej sytuacji, jaką jest pandemia koronawirusa. Praca ma charakter poglądowy i obejmuje okres od lutego do listopada, gdy politycy na bieżąco komentowali ówczesną sytuację epidemiologiczną. Zmiennymi w analizie była dzienna ilość zakażeń koronawirusem, kontekst polityczny oraz profil stron internetowych, na których były publikowane artykuły dotyczące kontrowersyjnych wypowiedzi. Praca zakończona jest podsumowaniem, które stanowi zbiór wniosków wynikających z analiz opisanych w pracy.

The aim of this paper is to show statements of politicians that can be called controversial and to indicate how the Internet users reacted to them on selected websites. In selecting the websites, there is a balance in terms of the editorial line of the two portals that were used to analyze the given statement. The paper consists of three chapters. The first two provide the theoretical background for the analysis and define the basic concepts related to the subject matter of the paper. The third chapter is devoted to the analysis of six selected controversial statements of politicians from different political options. This undergraduate thesis shows an analysis of how politicians communicate with people in a difficult crisis situation such as a coronavirus pandemic. The paper is illustrative and covers the period from February to November, when politicians were commenting on the epidemiological situation at the time. The variables in the analysis were the daily number of coronavirus infections, the political context, and the profile of the websites where the articles on the controversial statements were published. The paper ends with a summary, which is a set of conclusions resulting from the analyses described in the paper.
