Za cel niniejszej pracy przyjęto analizę motywów i treści widocznych w chińskim rapie na podstawie słów piosenek z albumu "Black Cab" autorstwa grupy Higher Brothers. W ciągu ostatnich czterech dekad hip-hop stał się artystycznym zjawiskiem, które w mocny sposób oddziałuje na kulturę światową. Rap oraz kultura hip-hop, poza sektorem sportowym, stały się najbardziej dochodowymi formami rozrywki w ostatniej dekadzie wieku XX w., przy czym trend ten utrzymuje się do dziś. W pierwszym rozdziale przedstawiono charakterystyczne elementy kultury hip-hop. Następnie skupiono się na gatunku muzycznym, który wyrósł z hip-hopu, czyli muzyce rapowej – przede wszystkim na jej początkach oraz fazach rozwoju w Stanach Zjednoczonych, które można uznać za jej kolebkę. Wymieniono również najważniejszych wykonawców, którzy przyczynili się do jej spopularyzowania oraz ich utwory. Przybliżono również główne tematy utworów z różnych epok rapu. Drugi rozdział stanowi opis rozwoju rapu w Chinach. Podano w nim najważniejszych artystów pochodzących z różnych okresów oraz ich utwory. Ponadto, wymieniono ważne wydarzenia, które przyczyniły się do rozpowszechnienia tego gatunku muzyki w Państwie Środka. Ukazano również różne formy cenzurowania utworów rapowych oraz ich autorów w Chinach. W ostatnim rozdziale krótko przedstawiono chińską grupę rapową Higher Brothers. Na podstawie utworów z albumu o tytule "Black Cab" przeanalizowano również motywy oraz treści widoczne w twórczości tej grupy.

This thesis concerns an analysis of themes and contents that can be found in the Chinese rap according to the songs lyrics from the „Black Cab” album, which was released by a Chinese group Higher Brothers. In a span of four decades, hip-hop has become an artistic phenomenon, which strongly influences the global culture. Rap music and hip-hop culture, along with sport sector, have turned into the most lucrative forms of entertainment during the 90’s, whereby this trend has been visible in recent years as well. The first chapter provides an information about characteristics of the hip-hop culture. Furthermore, the author focuses on the beginnings and phases of the development of rap music – a music genre, that originates from this culture and was born in the US. This country is considered to be a cradle of the rap music. Moreover, the author named the rappers, that were vital in the process of the rap music’s popularisation and their hits. In addition, the author presents main themes that can be found in those songs. The second chapter is concerned with a description of the Chinese’s rap development. Thereafter, the most important artists for every period are listed along with their greatest hits. Additionally, the author specifies crucial events, that contributed to the quick spread of this genre around China. Furthermore, different forms of censorship put on Chinese hip-hop artists and their songs are pointed out. In the last chapter, a short portrayal of the group Higher Brothers has been written. Moreover, the author provides an analysis of themes and contents visible in the group works on the basis of songs coming from the album entitled „Black Cab”.
