Caring for a patient with an ovarian cancer during chemotherapy - a case study

StreszczenieWstęp: Choroby nowotworowe stają się coraz częstszym problemem w obecnych czasach. W przeciągu ostatnich 30 lat liczba osób cierpiących na nowotwór złośliwy w Polsce wzrosła prawie dwukrotnie. Jest to druga z kolei przyczyna zgonów w naszym kraju. Choroba ta dotyka osoby w każdym wieku, bez względu na płeć. Schorzenie to wpływa zarówno na fizyczne, psychiczne, jak i społeczne funkcjonowanie chorego. W swojej pracy chciałam skupić się na ogólnej charakterystyce tej choroby, jej rodzajach, sposobach wykrywania, leczenia, a także poruszyć jakże istotną rolę opiekuna.Cel pracy: Celem pracy było zaplanowanie i podjęcie opieki nad pacjentką w trakcie leczenia choroby nowotworowej jajnika za pomocą chemioterapii. Materiał i metody: W pracy posłużono się metodą studium indywidualnego przypadku w oparciu o technikę wywiadu, obserwacji, pomiaru i analizy dokumentów w trakcie 4 wizyt środowiskowych w domu kobiety. Wykorzystano założenia teorii pielęgniarskich według Dorothy Orem. Wyniki: Sformułowano dziewięć pielęgniarskich diagnoz odnoszących się do aktualnej sytuacji pacjentki. Określono ich cel, interwencje i ocenę wprowadzonych działań. Oceniono także stan biopsychospołeczny pacjentki uwzględniając wszelkie podstawowe potrzeby.Wnioski: Choroba nowotworowa negatywnie odbiła się na życiu pacjentki. Jednak dzięki ogromnemu wsparciu ze strony rodziny, znajomości skutków ubocznych leczenia, charakterystyki choroby i ogromnej determinacji chora jest gotowa na walkę o zdrowie.

Introduction: Cancer is becoming an increasingly common problem nowadays. Over the past 30 years, the number of people suffering from cancer in Poland has almost doubled. This is the second cause of deaths in our country. This disease affects people of all ages, regardless of gender. This disease affects the patient’s physical, mental and social functioning. In my bachelor’s dissertation I wanted to focus on the general characteristics of this disease, its types, methods of detection, treatment and also raise the important role of the attendant.Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to plan and take care of a patient during the treatment of ovarian cancer with chemotherapy.Materials and methods: The study used the method of individual case study based on the technique of interview, observation, measurement and analysis of documents during 4 environmental visits at a woman's home. The assumptions of nursing theories according to Dorothy Orem were used.Results: Nine nursing diagnoses were made regarding the patient's current situation. Their purpose, interventions and evaluation of implemented activities were determined. The patient's biopsychosocial condition was also assessed taking into account all basic needs.Conclusions: Cancer had a negative impact on the patient's life. However, thanks to the huge support from the family, knowledge of the side effects of the treatment, the characteristics of the disease and the great determination the patient is ready for the fight for health.
