Celem niniejszej pracy jest zbadanie różnic w inteligencji emocjonalnej i skłonności do ryzyka pomiędzy osobami decydującymi się założyć własną działalność gosopodarczą, a osobami zatrudnionymi na etacie. W początkowych rozdziałach omówiono zarys teorii. W przypadku inteligencji emocjonalnej przedstawiono definicje, genezę, modele opisu, funkcje czy etapy jej rozwoju na przestrzeni życia. Zestawiono także analizę badań wpływu inteligencji emocjonalnej w zarządzaniu. Rozdział drugi dotyczy skłonności do ryzyka. Opisano w nim najciekawsze teorie dotyczące postrzegania ryzyka, rolę emocji, cech charakteru i mechanizmów neurobiologicznych w percepcji zachowań ryzykownych, a także style spostrzegania ryzyka. To właśnie owe style: stymulacyjny i instrumentalny obokinteligencji emocjonalnej stały się przedmiotem badań opisanych w rozdziale trzecim. Badanie dotyczyło różnic w skłonności do ryzyka i inteligencji emocjonalnej wśród osób zatrudnionych na etacie oraz przedsiębiorców. Posłużono się następującymi metodami:Kwestionariusz INTE – w polskiej adaptacji Anny Ciechanowicz, Aleksandry Jaworowskiej iAnny Matczak oraz Kwestionariusz Ryzyka Stymulacyjnego i Ryzyka Instrumentalnego(KRSiRI) Ryszarda Makarowskiego. Zaobserwowano niewielkie różnice w średnich i medianach, lecz nie były one istotne statystycznie. Dowiedziono jednak istnienia silnej, ujemnej korelacji pomiędzy stylem stymulacyjnym a instrumentalnym w postrzeganiu ryzykau ludzi (r(92) = -.509, p<.001), już bez podziału na przedsiębiorców i „nieprzedsiębiorców”. Wynika z tego, że ludzie dzielą się na podejmujących decyzje w sposób impulsywny oraz refleksyjny.

The aim of this work is to investigate differences in emotional intelligence and inclinations to the risk between those who decide to set up their own business and those who are employed. In the initial chapters the outline of the theory is discussed. In the case of emotional intelligence, definitions, genesis, description models, functions or stages of its development throughout life are presented. The analysis of research on the influence of emotional intelligence in management is also presented. The second chapter deals with the tendency to risk. It describes the most interesting theories concerning perception of risk, the role of emotions, character traits and neurobiological mechanisms in the perception of risky behaviors, as well as styles of perceiving risk. It is these styles: stimulative and instrumental alongside emotional intelligence that have become the subject of research described in chapter three.The study concerned the differences in risk propensity and emotional intelligence among employed persons and entrepreneurs. The following methods were used: INTE Questionnaire - in the Polish adaptation of Anna Ciechanowicz, Aleksandra Jaworowska and Anna Matczak and Stimulation and Instrumental Risk Questionnaire (KRSiRI) by Ryszard Makarowski. Small differences in the averages and medians were observed, but they were not statistically significant. However, there was a strong negative correlation between the stimulation and instrumental style in the perception of risk in people (r(92) = -.509, p<.001), without any division between entrepreneurs and "nonentrepreneurs". It follows that people are divided into decision makers in an impulsive and reflective way.
