Funeral rite in the Late Bronze Age Canaan.

Celem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest przedstawienie różnorodności zwyczajów pogrzebowych występujących w Kanaanie w XVII-XII wieku p.n.e. W pracy poruszam problem wieloetniczności społeczności zamieszkujących Kanaan w tym okresie oraz opisuję dzieje historyczne, które silnie wpłynęły na ten czas.W analizie grobów zostały wzięte pod uwagę czynniki takie jak: rodzaj grobu oraz ilość pochowanych osób. Omówione zostaną także warunki geologiczno – geograficzne Kanaanu, oraz próba przedstawienia charakterystyki ludów zamieszkujących Kanaan.Uchwycenie zmieniających się form obrzędów pogrzebowych w Późnym Brązie na terenie Kanaanu oraz przejawów oddziaływań płynących z różnych części basenu morza Śródziemnego pozwala sądzić iż ziemie Palestyny w tym okresie były swoistą mieszanką kulturową w której ludność starała się ze sobą koegzystować w wciąż zmieniającym się świecie.

The aim of this thesis is to present the diversity of funeral customs occurring in Canaan in the XVII – XII centuries BCE. In this work, I discuss the problem of multi-ethnicity of the communities living in Canaan in that period and describe the historical events that strongly influenced those times.In the analysis of the graves, factors such as the type of grave and number of buried people were taken into account. The geological and geographical conditions of Canaan were also discussed. Furthermore the work attempts to characterize the peoples of Canaan.Capturing the changing forms of funeral rites in Late Bronze Age in the territory of Canaan and the manifestations of influences flowing from different parts of the Mediterranean basin allow us to believe that the lands of Palestine at that time were kind of cultural mix in which people tried to coexist with each other within constantly changing world.
