Slavic national stereotypes and selected depreciating ethnonyms on the historical background

Głównym celem pracy jest ukazanie narodowych i językowych stereotypów odnoszących się do mieszkańców wybranych państw ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem stosunków polsko-czeskich, przybliżenie ich genezy historycznej oraz wskazanie podobieństw i różnic w postrzeganiu danych narodów na podstawie dostępnej literatury naukowej. Kolejnym zadaniem pracy jest ustalenie istniejących określeń nazywających osoby danej narodowości, tzw. etnonimów, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem etnonimów deprecjonujących. Negatywne etnonimy są głównym nośnikiem skojarzeń i konotacji, które utrwalają się później w życiu codziennym, służą do dyskryminacji i lekceważenia danej narodowości.

The aim of this master's thesis is to show national and linguistic stereotypes relating to the inhabitants of selected countries, with particular emphasis on Polish-Czech relations, to present their historical origins and to indicate the similarities and differences in the perception of nations, basing on the available scientific literature. Another task of the master's thesis is to define the existing terms referring to people due to their nationality - ethnonyms - with particular emphasis on depreciating ethnonyms. Negative ethnonyms are the main carrier of associations and connotations, which become permanent in everyday life and are used to discriminate and disregard a nationality.
