Jedną z najważniejszych wartości w państwie chińskim jest rodzina, od wieków rozwijała się tam myśl konfucjańska, stawiająca tę komórkę na najwyższym miejscu w systemie społecznym. Na strukturę rodziny poważny wpływ miały wydarzenia w XX wieku, przede wszystkim Rewolucja Kulturalna, przez której metody wiele z nich zostało rozbitych. One of the most important values in the China is the family, for centuries a Confucian thought was developing there, putting family at the highest place in the social system. The structure of the family was seriously influenced by the events of the 20th century, most notably the Cultural Revolution, by which many families were broken up. These activities left a significant mark on the mentality of people, in particular directors who were growing up in the light of these events, making them try to show their experiences and traumas from this period through pictures.
