Powieść kryminalna jest jedną z najpopularniejszych gatunków literatury na świecie. W krajach arabskich również znalazła ona rzeszę swoich fanów, jednak w formie dostosowanej do warunków społecznych - sytuacja polityczna w danym kraju często stanowi tło wydarzeń.Podstawą moich rozważań jest odważna powieść Ahmeda Mourada - Vertigo.Moja praca składa się z pięciu rozdziałów prezentujących: charakterystykę gatunku powieści kryminalnej z wyodrębnionym opisem na temat jej obecności w krajach arabskich, biografię autora oraz przyczyny napisania książki, zarys fabuły, biografię Hosniego Mubarāka wraz z charakterystyką jego prezydentury oraz przyczynami jego upadku, oraz analizę Vertigo jako alegorii społeczeństwa egipskiego i jego wewnętrznych problemów. W swojej pracy postaram się odpowiedzieć na pytanie, jak trafnie Egipt został przedstawiony w tej powieści oraz jakim jest cennym źródłem informacji o sytuacji w kraju. Praca ta przedstawia również po krótce kluczowe wydarzenia, które wyznaczyły polityczną, społeczną i ekonomiczną sytuację w Egipcie za czasów prezydentury Mubarāka oraz po jego upadku w 2011 roku.

The crime novel is one of the most popular genres of literature in the world. In Arab countries, it also found its fans, but in a form adapted to social conditions - the political situation in a particular country is often the background for the plot.My reflections are based on a brave novel by Ahmed Mourad - Vertigo.My thesis consists of five chapters presenting the following: the characteristics of the crime novel genre with a separate description of its presence in Arab countries, the author's biography and the reasons for writing the book, an outline of the plot, the biography of Hosni Mubarāk with the characteristics of his presidency and the reasons for his downfall, and Vertigo's analysis as an allegory of Egyptian society and its internal problems. In my thesis, I will try to answer the question of how accurately Egypt is presented in this novel and how valuable is it as a source of information about the situation in the country. This thesis also briefly presents the key events that determine the political, social and economic situation in Egypt during the Mubarāka presidency and after his downfall in 2011.
