The specificity of Ukrainian portals as minority media in Poland

Polskę zamieszkują przedstawiciele 9 mniejszości narodowych oraz 4 grup etnicznych. Każda mniejszość stara się zachować swoją tożsamość narodową, dlatego zakładają na terenie kraju swoje instytucje, stowarzyszenia, prowadzą media w języku ojczystym – gazety, audycje radiowe i telewizyjne, a także portale internetowe. Celem niniejszej pracy jest ustalenie specyfiki portali internetowych mniejszości ukraińskiej. Zaprezentowano w pracy media etniczne mniejszości ukraińskiej, je historia i rola. Wymieniono również współczesne media innych mniejszości narodowych i etnicznych oraz je zakres tematów. Do próby badawczej weszły portale „Nasze Słowo” i „Nasz Wybór”, adresowane głównie do mniejszości ukraińskiej, a także „UAinKrakow.pl”, skierowany do migrantów. Za pomocą ilościowej analizy zawartości udało się ustalić tematy, jakie dominują w mediach internetowych, czynniki integrujące wspólnotę Ukraińców, a także pokazać jak są wyświetleni Ukraińcy i Polacy w analizowanych materiałach.

Poland hosts members of 9 national minorities and 4 ethnic groups. Each minority tries to preserve their national identity therefore they create institutions, associations, publish mass media in their native languages – newspapers, internet portals, radio and television broadcasts. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the specificity of the Ukrainian minority websites. It presents the ethnic media of the Ukrainian minority, its history and role. Contemporary media of other national and ethnic minorities and their range of topics were also mentioned.The portals "Nasze Słowo" and "Nasz Wybór", addressed mainly to the Ukrainian minority, and "UAinKrakow.pl", targeted at migrants, entered the research sample. Conducting a quantitative content analysis allowed to determine the topics that dominate in the internet media, the factors integrating the Ukrainian community in Poland, and to show how Ukrainian and Polish people are presented in the analyzed materials.
