Dualizm hylemorficzny św. Tomasza z Akwinu jako fundament współczesnej koncepcji człowieka
St. Thomas Aquinas’ hylomorphic dualism as a foundation of the modem idea of human
św. Tomasz z Akwinu
The psychophisical issue is one of those philosophical questions which since centuries continue to pervade not only philosophers, but also other scientists. An attempt to resolve this problem may be found in st. Thomas Aquinas philosophy. His hyleomorphist theory not only allows to understand how body and soul may be united, bit also that those two constituents of a human being perfectly complete each other, and only together create a human. St. Thomas’s theory might only be a base for a complete vision of a human being. Nevertheless, the modem neurosciences not only do not oppose Thomas’s thesis, they complete and confirm them. Uniting of both would allow a better understanding of human nature, which continues to be an unresolved mystery.
