The Interdisciplinary Centre for Ethics was established on February 27, 2007 by an ordinance of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University. The goal of the Centre is “to initiate, organize, and coordinate teaching and research activities in applied and professional ethics, particularly in the areas of bioethics and business ethics”. Although the Centre is formally a part of the Philosophical Faculty, it is in fact an interdisciplinary enterprise. Its Academic Board includes representatives of several university faculties. The founder and the first director of Centre was Prof. Włodzimierz Galewicz (2007-2016). Since 2016 the Centre is headed by Prof. Tomasz Żuradzki.
