Leksykalizacja kolokwialna oraz neutralizacja jako narzędzia przekładu szkockiego dialektu na język polski na przykładzie powieści Irvine'a Welsha „Dead Men's Trousers”

Celem niniejszej pracy jest zwrócenie uwagi na zadanie złożone i wymagające, jakim jest tłumaczenie dialektu, a także zgłębienie istniejących metod rozwiązania tegoż problematycznego zagadnienia – zarówno w teorii, jak i praktyce. Intencją autorki w żadnym wypadku nie jest preskrypcja czy też wybór „jedynego słusznego” lub uniwersalnego sposobu dokonania takiej operacji. Autorka skłania się bardziej ku próbie wyselekcjonowania najbardziej przekonujących i rozsądnych rozwiązań, które będą odpowiednie w przypadku tłumaczenia wybranych fragmentów wydanej w 2018 r. powieści szkockiego pisarza Irvine’a Welsha – „Dead Men’s Trousers”. Chcąc podjąć decyzję odnośnie do wiodącej strategii przekładu, która będzie przemyślana i wykonalna, w pierwszej kolejności zbadane zostaje spektrum możliwych metod tłumaczeniowych, a następnie poddane są one testowi. Przekrój rozmaitych strategii przekładu daje autorce sposobność ustalenia kluczowych założeń, które towarzyszyć jej będą podczas tłumaczenia, takich jak naturalność wypowiedzi, podtrzymanie humoru, oraz wyeksponowanie obcych elementów, gdy jest to osiągalne. Po wyłonieniu najbardziej akceptowalnej strategii zademonstrowane zostają efekty tłumaczenia interlingwalnego, dokonanego przez autorkę. Następnie przedstawia ona konstruktywne, krytyczne komentarze, argumentację oraz objaśnienia dotyczące decyzji, jakie zapadły w trakcie procesu.

The aim of the thesis is to draw attention to the issue of dialect translation as a complex and demanding task, as well as to explore the existing dialect rendition methods, both in theory and practice. The objective is by no means to prescribe or elect the only “right” or universal way of performing such an operation; rather, the author makes an effort to select the most plausible and reasonable solutions that are fitted to the purpose of translating chosen fragments of “Dead Men’s Trousers” (2018), a novel from the Scottish writer Irvine Welsh. In order to make a feasible, informed decision regarding the leading translation strategy, a viable spectrum of possibilities is first examined and then put into practice. The cross-section of various translation methods enables the translator to define the main goals behind the translation, such as naturalness of speech, preservation of humour, and the exposition of foreign elements when possible. Once the most acceptable strategy is adopted, demonstrated is the product of the interlingual translation as performed by the author. The presentation is followed by constructive, critical comments, justifications, and explanations regarding the decisions made during the process.
