Nüshu script - history, tradition, literature

W 1982 r. w miejscowości Jiangyong na terenie prowincji Hunan w południowych Chinach odkryto fragment tkaniny, na której znajdywały się nieznane, jednak przypominające chińskie pismo, znaki. Należały one do systemu znaków nüshu (女书) - pisma stworzonego i używanego przed laty przez kobiety zamieszkujące okoliczne tereny. W wyniku przemian społecznych i wydarzeń historycznych w XX wieku zaprzestano użycia pisma jak i praktykowania tradycji z nim związanych. Dziś nüshu odkrywane jest na nowo. Niniejsza praca jest wprowadzeniem do badań nad pismem. Jej celem jest przedstawienie motywów i sposobu jego powstania, opisanie tradycji związanych z jego użyciem, a także przedstawienie literatury, która powstała dzięki jego istnieniu.

In 1982, a piece of cloth with an unknown script on it was discovered in Jiangyong, Hunan Province in southern China. The characters were a part of the nüshu (女 书) script - a script created and used years ago by women, who lived in the surrounding areas. As a result of social changes and historical events of the 20th century, the use of writing and the practice of the traditions associated with it began to fade away. Today nüshu is being rediscovered.The aim of this work is to present the motives and methods of creation of the script and its brief history; to describe the traditions associated with its use, and to introduce the literature that was created due to the invention of the script.
