The origin of coordination chemistry in Poland is reviewed and two main centres of its development in Krakow and in Wrocław are briefly characterized. Coordination chemistry in Poland is usually associated with the name of Bogusława Jezowska-Trzebiatowska (1908–1991), Professor of Chemistry at Wrocław University, generally recognized as the founder of the Wrocław School of Coordination Chemistry. The history of coordination chemistry which started with Professor Wiktor Jakob in Lwow will be described with particular emphasis from its initiation in Lwow and continuation in Krakow (Jagiellonian University) and further development at the University of Wrocław in Wrocław. Authors in this volume, from research centres other than Wrocław and Krakow present progress in inorganic and coordination chemistry in those other regions of Poland.pl
