Alicja w Krainie Czarów oraz Po Drugiej Stronie Lustra Lewisa Carrolla w Filmowej Adaptacji Tima Burtona

Odkąd Lewis Carroll napisał pierwszą książkę o przygodach Alicji w 1865 roku, jego historia została zekranizowana wiele razy. W niniejszej pracy analizowane są książki Alicja w Krainie Czarów i Po Drugiej Stronie Lustra autorstwa Lewisa Carrolla oraz filmowa adaptacja Alicja w Krainie Czarów z 2010 roku w reżyserii Tima Burtona. Celem pracy jest wyróżnienie aspektów, które sprawiają, że adaptacja znacząco różni się od oryginalnej historii. W każdym z rozdziałów świat oraz postacie wykreowane przez Carrolla są zestawione z ich filmowymi odpowiednikami. Rozdział pierwszy przedstawia autorów omawianych dzieł – Lewisa Carrolla i Tima Burtona. Kolejna część pracy jest poświęcona głównej postaci, czyli Alicji. W rozdziale trzecim Kraina Czarów jest porównana z odpowiadającą jej filmową krainą - Antydią. Ostatnia część pracy poświęcona jest tematom takim jak przemoc, kobiecość oraz tożsamość.

Ever since Lewis Carroll wrote the first book about Alice’s journey to Wonderland in 1865, the story has been adapted to the big screen numerous times. This thesis is concerned with Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and the 2010 cinematic adaptation Alice in Wonderland, directed by Tim Burton. The aim of the paper is to highlight those aspects of the 2010 adaptation which differentiate Tim Burton’s cinematic version of the story from Lewis Carroll’s original books. In each of the chapters, Carroll’s world and characters are juxtaposed with their movie counterparts. The first chapter presents the authors of the works – Lewis Carroll and Tim Burton. The next section is devoted to the story’s main protagonist, Alice. In chapter three Wonderland is compared with its movie version – Underland. The last section explores themes such as violence, femininity and identity.
