Animistic Deities in Taiwan and their names

Animizm to wiara, że każda rzecz posiada własnego ducha, a nad wszelkimi zjawiskami oraz przedmiotami czuwają bóstwa opiekuńcze. Wierzenia te sprawiały, że wszelkie przedmioty stawały się obiektami kultu i czczono je jako bóstwa. Celem niniejszej pracy jest omówienie wybranych bóstw animistycznych wraz z ich nazwami. W pierwszym rozdziale podjęto próbę zdefiniowania animizmu a także przybliżono specyfikę wierzeń ludowych na Tajwanie. Drugi rozdział pracy dotyczy bóstw niebiańskich, będących częścią animistycznego kultu przyrody. Zawarto w nim także nazewnictwo oraz legendy i tradycje związane z obchodami narodzin bóstw. Rozdział trzeci poświęcony jest bóstwom przedmiotów i duchom rzeczy, ich nazwom oraz legendom.

Animism is a belief that each thing possesses its own spirit, and that guardian deities watch over all natural phenomena and inanimate objects. These beliefs rendered that all things became an object of devotion and were worshiped as deities. The goal of the thesis is to present a selection of animistic gods, together with their names. In the first chapter the term animism is defined, and specificities of Taiwanese folk religions are clarified. The second chapter concerns Heavenly Deities, which are part of the animistic cult of nature. It also contains nomenclature, legends and traditions associated with the celebration of the birth of deities. The third chapter is dedicated to deities and ghosts of inanimate objects, their names and legends associated with them.
